Oh the humanity

2014

“Oh the humanity!” is a quote from Herbert Morrison who was broadcasting during the the explosion of the Hindenburg in 1937. Often times nowadays when you hear it used it is done so with humor or irony. This particular piece depicts a number of people with red hair passing what seems to be a nice day on the beach which for me is normally a situation, red heads being fair skinned, where they would need to be extremely careful not to get burned. The piece deals with what I feel are humanity’s blase and sometimes flippant attitude towards climate change. It seems as if we are acting as if everything is normal when we should be working towards changing the bad habits that we as a species have developed. But really it seems that it’s just another day at the beach
